Australian Universities Postgraduate & Undergraduate Enrollment Statistics

Australian Universities Postgraduate & Undergraduate Enrollment Statistics

In terms of the highest percentages of undergraduate students, the list of universities is headed by the University of Notre Dame, the University of the Sunshine Coast, and the University of Western Sydney. To some extent this reflects the focus of these universities on students acquiring some sort of vocational skills or knowledge rather than an emphasis on advanced graduate study.

The list of universities with the highest percentages of postgraduate students is very different from the one for undergraduate students, with the University of Melbourne and the Australian National University (ANU) clear leaders in this area. This reflects the way each of these universities has developed their graduate schools, with graduate schools being central to the establishment of the ANU and more recently becoming a key part in the 'Melbourne Model' at Melbourne University.

The percentages displayed in Table 1 highlight the undergraduate and postgraduate cohorts of the various universities relative to each other. The percentages displayed in Table 2 are slightly different because they are relative to the total number of all enrolled students including enabling and non-award students
