International Scholarships for Maltese Students 2017 - 2018

MINISTRY FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS

Scholarships offered by the Government of the People’s Republic of China for Postgraduate or Undergraduate Studies in any Discipline   017/2018
(for Maltese Citizens only)

The Government of the People’s Republic of China is offering 3 scholarships for the academic year of 2017/18 for Maltese students to study as graduate, undergraduate or visiting scholars at Chinese Universities. The expense of international transport should be borne by the students themselves.
All the qualified applicants should log on (www.csc.edu.cn/laihua) to apply online first.

All application forms as indicated below should be submitted to the Scholarships Section at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Valletta, from 8.30 a.m. to noon and 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.

(a) a Curriculum Vitae

(b) a copy of the degree(s) obtained;

(c) a University/Faculty/School transcript detailing results and grades obtained;

(d) MFA Application Form (http://foreignaffairs.gov.mt/en/PDF%20Documents/Scholarships%20Application%20Form.pdf);

(e) two printed copies of Application Form For Chinese Government Scholarship together with Foreigner Physical Examination Form;

(f) applicants for postgraduate studies must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.

All application materials need to be provided to the Embassy of China not later than the 1st April, 2017. Enclosed are the reference materials which can also be downloaded from the website (http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua) or (www.campuschina.org).

Successful candidates may be required to enter into a contract to serve the Government or the Private Sector of Malta upon completion.

Applications from Government and Parastatal employees and from the Private Sector will not be considered unless recommended by their Head of Department/Parastatal Organisation/employer respectively.

Late applications will not be considered.  The Board’s decision will be final.

Scholarship at the College of Europe, Bruges  2017/2018 (for Maltese citizens only)

The Government of Malta is offering scholarships for academic year 2017/2018 tenable at the College of Europe, Bruges (Belgium) to enable students to participate in one of the following areas of specialisation:

MA in European Economic Studies,

MA in European Legal Studies,

MA in European Political and Administrative Studies or

MA in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies

The scholarships cover one academic year commencing September 2017 and ending June 2018.

Applicants for any of the above-mentioned specialisations must already hold a Second Class Upper (or better) local or foreign approved University degree.  In case of the economic and legal departments, applicants must already have a degree in a relevant subject namely economics and law. Applicants must have also a good knowledge of the French language.

The age limit is in principle 30 years.

It is imperative that applicants must apply online directly to the College of Europe, Bruges by the deadline of Wednesday, 18th January, 2017 (www.coleurope.eu).

Applicants are to apply also with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The application forms are available from the Ministry’s own website (http://foreignaffairs.gov.mt/en/Pages/Scholarships.aspx). Applicants are to include also a copy of all documents submitted electronically through the College of Europe website. These are to be submitted to the Scholarships Section at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Palazzo Parisio, Triq il-Merkanti, Valletta, from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon. Closing date for these scholarships is by not later than Wednesday, 18th January, 2017.

Applications from Government and Parastatal employees and from the Private Sector will not be considered unless recommended by their head of department/parastatal organisation/employer respectively.

Selected candidates will be required to sign an undertaking to the effect that on completion of studies they would be available to work in Malta.  They may also be required to enter into a contract to serve the Government of Malta upon completion of studies.

Late applications will not be considered. The Board’s decision will be final.
