Course Description The course is intended for candidates who wish to embark on a career in the engineering sector with a particular focus on industrial electronics since it provides candidates with the knowledge and skills required by the manufacturing and services industry.

The courses emphasis is on electrical and electronic engineering but a number of modules contain elements of software engineering and automation, giving students sufficient knowledge to consider careers in other related technical fields. The challenging and dynamic world of electronics, mechatronics and communications engineering offers excellent career growth opportunities and the diploma is widely accepted by the local industry.

Study/Course Delivery This programme of study addresses the competences required for technical level to the Electrical Engineering in particular Industrial Electronics. The achievement of the required underpinning knowledge and key skills will be accomplished through contextualising key skills and adopting a highly practical approach.
Assessment Assessment of the programme is an integral part of the learning process. Students will be assessed by a mixture of home based and time constrained assignments, practicals and projects. The learning process is completed by providing learners with feedback that is both formative and summative in nature.

2. Apply mathematical and scientific principles to solve engineering problems

3. Construct, test and maintain complex analogue and digital electronic circuits and systems to required specifications

4. Programme and test microcontroller and programmable logic controller circuits for industrial applications using both low and high-level languages.
