Course Description This degree prepares students for a world of creativity – to respond sensibly to different cultural and social contexts through the design of products.  Students will learn how to research independently, develop ideas and concepts, and to effectively communicate them using CAD software.  They will acquire the necessary skills to generate technical and artistic renders, and to transform designs into physical prototypes within industry-based scenarios.  Technical and creative abilities will be broadened through the exploration of fundamental topics such as, contextual studies, sustainability, functional design, technologies, and traditional 3D and new production processes.  At the end of the course, students will have built a portfolio of work which will serve them well for work opportunities.
Study/Course Delivery The course fosters independent learning and develops learners’ ability to explore, apply and extend their learning in different contexts and situations. Students will also benefit from shared lectures, projects and workshops, and are generally expected to work in multidisciplinary teams on real-life cases.
Assessment The course includes a wide variety of assessment methods including design projects, presentations, practical projects and written work. The assessment is continuous throughout the course. Students are requested to work on a negotiated final project and dissertation.
