Course Description This is a one-year programme designed to provide an opportunity to students of advancing their key skills partially through vocational content. The course will also assist in developing technical skills in basic electrical and electronic engineering. The vocational units are designed to provide students with basic tool handling skills, electrical and electronic components assembly, soldering techniques and understanding of simple electrical and

electronics circuit functioning and construction, in order to enable them to complete simple

repetitive or familiar tasks. The essential key skills, Maltese, English, Mathematics, Science

and Information Technology, are embedded into each vocational area, thus promoting

the practical aspect of theory offered in essential key skills units to be applied in the familiar

tasks. Furthermore, students will receive guidance on their personal development.

Study/Course Delivery This programme of study leads to the achievement of key competencies. The emphasis is on the teaching methodology where embedding has been selected as the main pedagogical model. Vocational Units are used as a vehicle for achieving the objective.
Assessment Assessment of the programme is an integral part of the learning process. Varied assessment methods are employed. The learning process is completed by providing students with feedback that is both formative and summative in nature.

3. Use instructions, schematics and basic tools to construct and test simple electronic circuits
